237. Application of provisions of this chapter to certain classes of building workers.- (1) The provisions of this chapter shall apply to the classes of building workers specified under clauses (a) to (d) of sub-section (2) of section 28, of the Act subject to the following, namely:-

(a) no building worker employed in building or other construction work shall be required or allowed to work continuously for more than fifteen hours a day inclusive of intervals of rest or sixty hours in a week;

Provided that intervals of rest not less than half-an hour are given after every five hours of continuous work as laid down in sub-rule (2) of rule 234;

(b) no building worker employed in building and other construction work shall be required or allowed to work for more than fourteen consecutive days unless a rest of twenty four hours is given for rest to such worker.

(2) Where the working hours in respect of a building worker employed in building or other construction work have exceeded the hours of work as laid down in sub-rule (1) of rule 234 or where such worker has been deprived of a rest day due to application of sub-rule (1) of this rule, such worker shall be paid at double the rate of normal wages in respect of the work done in excess of such daily or weekly hours and for work done on such rest-day.
