284. Construction rules.- (1) The Central Government may make rules (in this Act called the construction rules), prescribing the requirements that the hull, equipment and machinery of India passenger ships shall comply with). (2) The rules made under sub-section (1) shall include such requirements as appear to the Central Government to implement the provisions of the Safety Convention prescribing the requirements that the hull, equipment and machinery of passenger ships shall comply with, except so far as those provisions are implemented by the rules for life saving appliances, the radio rules, the rules for direction finders or the collision regulations. (3) The powers conferred on the Central Government by this section shall be in addition to the powers conferred by any other provision enabling it to prescribe the requirements that passenger ships shall comply with. | ||||||
